Review on 🌬️ Germ Guardian True HEPA Filter Air Purifier: Eliminate Germs, Allergies, Smoke, and Odors with UV Light Sanitizer - 4-in-1 Home AC5000E by Paula Jones

This AC5000E has had an unacceptable odor since day one of use. I contacted the company and they assured me there was no problem with this smell and it would go away. They also told me that the blue LED on the device indicates that the lamp is working. One day I noticed the blue light was on but there was no reflected light from the UV lamp. When dismantling it was clear that the lamp had burned out. So the blue LED didn't indicate that the UV lamp was on, just that it was on. That was the first problem I had with the company. When disassembling to change the lamp, I noticed that the black plastic of the frame had turned light gray. The light gray color came from dust, which was mostly black plastic. (This is a common problem with UV-C: it destroys plastic.) This created a number of problems: 1) The company (which claims to be an air disinfection expert) did nothing to protect the plastic from damage . 2) The decay dust is in the airflow AFTER the HEPA filter. This is how the dust leaves the machine in a stream of "clean air”. 3) Well, as it turns out, the smell I had for a few days was plastic decay. In other words, the machine self-destructed, even though tech support told me they knew nothing about smells. This is clearly not possible, since each test of a new device will lead to an unpleasant smell. So they lied to me. I have come to the conclusion that Germ Guardian products are poorly designed. I believe her marketing skills far outweigh her technical skills. I don't even know at this point if UV light is effective or if it's a gimmick used to sell products. As I have had the product for approximately 6 months it cannot be returned to Revain. So I bought the product in good faith and now I've lost over $100 on something that just makes noise and uses electricity. I will not risk purchasing other Germ Guardian products.
