I've always felt a sucker, the way my radar detector was attached seemed primitive at best. If it wasn't securely attached, it collapsed. If the suction cups were of any age, they would collapse. You take off the beakers to store the detector and there are ugly round ring marks on the glass from the inevitable saliva you wet them with. I went to Amazon to order replacement suction cups when I saw this mirror mount. The photos didn't really give a detailed idea of what I ordered, but I took the leap of faith. If you've taken the same route and aren't sure if this vehicle is worth your money, rest easy. The thing is phenomenal! There are no instructions in the box, but a quick scan of what you get makes it clear how to attach it to a mirror stand. There are 3 pivot points to adjust to individual windshield/mirror angles. Two of these points can be tightened with the finger flanges surrounding them. A small allen wrench is included to tighten the third pivot point, but the wrench can also be used to finish all three points to make it tight. Two extra mounting screws are included in the kit in case you have an unusually thick spot that needs to be negotiated, but I didn't have to use them and I think most mirrors won't cause much need. Once the corner is set, everything is in place and tightened, this mount provides an excellent platform. Absolutely no setbacks and setbacks. It stays in place forever, and you can either leave your detector there forever or, if you're afraid of theft, just slide it out of sight. I was planning on wiring it up so I bought a wire harness to hook it up to my fuse box. But I found that its new position under the mirror shortened the distance to connect it to my lighter and so positioning was much more relaxed and stress free. I might still want to plug it in in the future after extended use, but for now it seems unnecessary. A note: I've read that in some states, even where speed camera detectors are legal, you can be fined if you have something sticky on your windshield. This type of attachment eliminates this possibility.
