This is a simple back scratcher and works well for this purpose. I like that it can be extended and folded for easy movement, but when extended it stays tight and doesn't slide back or rotate too easily on the pole so it's easy to get it to the right length hold and look to the right . direction of use. A small black drawstring pouch comes in handy if you want to take it with you when you travel. The "fingertips" have enough edges to scratch well without tearing the skin - I have another one that has the fingertips rounded like this. for "safety" (like a useless blunt toothpick) so it doesn't really scratch the itch. This one makes it so beautiful. As for my only issue that cost it a star is that it's very flat, all in the same plane from tip to tip.
