I live in Texas and took up running toward the end of last spring. Last summer, the runs weren't long enough to need anything like this. Through the coldest part of the winter, I survived runs up to 12 miles by carrying a water bottle. But I never like having to carry something the whole time. Plus, I prefer to carry my phone, drivers license, and a debit card just in case. Some of the hydration vests and backpacks were pretty expensive. I really didn't want to pay a lot for this. Really, I just needed something that worked and would hold up. I'm not planning on doing any ultra races, so I didn't need that much capacity. This thing is great. I know is has some kind of weight, but it's nothing I notice while running. If the vest ever starts jiggling, it's really easy to tighten up. There are enough pockets up front for a few items (keys, license, small food items, etc.). If it's a relatively short run, I'll just carry one water bottle and use the other front pocket for my phone. Otherwise, I'll put the phone in the back compartment. The back compartment isn't huge, but again, it's not supposed to be a full on backpack. You could probably fit a shirt, phone, and maybe some food.Just to make sure I'm OK for the hot summer long runs, I decided to purchase a water bladder / reservoir. It took a little research to find one that was small enough for the back compartment. But I found a 1.5 liter reservoir from Badlands that is small enough. Once the summer heat comes, I'm thinking that this along with the 2 water bottles up front will be plenty for just about any long run.I can't think of much else to say. It's very affordable and does the job, so I'm happy.
