I used a 45° router bit with a Porter Cable 892 router and a Bosch router table to cut two 6 foot pieces of dry oak 1x3 to mill. The first cut seemed to be going very well and halfway through the second cut the cut quality started to deteriorate noticeably - rough edges and quite a bit of drag in the feed. In the end he was able to gnaw through the piece successfully for the most part, but apparently the blade failed. There was some friction burn and quite a bit of roughness where it appeared to be pulling on the wood grain more than cutting it. the price of the set is less than a bit on the local HD), but it didn't seem very good to me. A few other reviews have mentioned similar issues so I'm wondering if they had a batch with poorly heat treated cutting faces?
