Very impressed with this belt. I was particularly wary of spending $80 on a single belt, but after reading reviews and researching leather types and classifications, I decided to give it a try. This belt appears to be made from two layers of full-grain leather, with a shaped and feathered back firmly glued together and the front (the actual outside of a cowhide, presumably polished or polished to some extent) being the visible part. The surface finish is shiny and spotless, so much so that I carefully examined it to make sure it isn't coated like most cheaper straps (it isn't). This is possibly my favorite aspect of this belt. it's a buckle. Most belts are bent in such a way that there is a large crease and extra stress is placed on the belt where it buckles under the buckle. This, especially since I usually wear my belts with the same hole every time, causes all my cheap belts to quickly snap, warp or, in the case of inferior glued leather belts, lose my outer plastic sleeve and show the world my bad taste. The situation is different with this belt: after closing, the belt lies almost flat, the sharp edges of the buckle bar do not dig into the surface, and almost all the load is taken by a strong hole and pin. A well constructed, well designed and beautifully finished belt and while it's not cheap I'm sure it will last and always look good.
