Review on 🐢 Dog Mate Pet Doors by Donald Marin

Real pain inside.

As other reviews have said, the installation is a real problem. This is one of those points that says you only need three tools but you end up using about ten different tools and running to Lowes or Home Depot to get parts that actually work, not the ones they packaged. That. FYI, he asks for a hacksaw to cut the studs to the correct length to fit your door properly. Good luck with it. Well, if you have a hacksaw, you'll ALSO need a vise to hold the screws while you cut them. How many people have a workbench with a vise? I just went to Laws and bought new screws that were the right length and didn't need to be cut. It took about 30 minutes to find the right ones. I would happily pay $1 more for a product if the company added an extra set of smaller screws instead of spending about 2 hours cutting screws that were too long and then going to the store to buy new ones. It was bloody awkward, and it wasn't my first rodeo with this type of door or carpentry in general. I would also like to point out that the cover/latch part of the door needs to be removed and stored when not in use. There is no lock switch. You need to attach it and insert small pins to hold it in place. The door I replaced had a latch mechanism built into the frame. Just wanted to warn you about that. It is inconvenient to take the cap to wherever it is stored and then put it on to plug the hole. I would buy something else.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • There are nuances
