I don't care if it's not real wood. It looks like it and it's good enough for me. Perfect for rustic decor. Holds a large number of napkins and doesn't need to be constantly refilled. You can take them out one by one without leaving a whole pack, just like a vertical napkin holder. You can put large napkins. I use Costco napkins and there is plenty of room for larger ones. LOVE IT!
