Review on ⛳️ Optimized for Search: Garmin Approach G30, Handheld Golf GPS with 2.3-inch Color Touchscreen Display by Kyle Ross

Today I played my first round with the Approach G30. It started up quickly and immediately recognized the field I was playing on, but it took 2-3 attempts to establish a satellite lock, possibly due to clouds and fog. It took a few holes to get used to how to properly navigate all the options for scoring, putting, hitting the fairway and then moving on to the next hole. People with big fingers will likely have trouble navigating this device as it is even smaller than I expected. My previous device was the SkyCaddie SGXw, which is significantly larger than the G30 and a bit easier to navigate in my opinion. I decided to get rid of the SkyCaddie due to battery issues and the fact that it costs $50 a year to register to use it. The G30 requires no annual usage fees and claims to have over 40,000 preloaded fields. 3 hours and 30 minutes and I have 80% battery left. The gauges were accurate, within 1-3 meters of my friend's laser. Here is a list of pros and cons. Pros: Launches quickly, quickly noticed the course I was on, shots and hazards proved accurate, big numbers mode makes it easy for those of us with poor eyesight to see distances, able to measure ours Keeping score after trial and error takes some time getting used to the smaller size, stats are easy to view via Garmin Connect, charges quickly, battery life seems excellent. It looks like you can squeeze 3 full rounds of use out of this device as long as the rounds aren't 5 hours each. Cons: Depending on the size of your hand and fingers, being small can be an issue. With the ability to navigate the device properly, it takes a few holes to fumble through the device. The touchscreen took some getting used to, and pressing the desired function didn't always work on the first try. a little more to make it easier to use. I would recommend this device to most who love a good golf GPS device that is quite easy to use and gives you all the information and parameters for scoring. Statistics, distances and dangers you want. UPDATE 4/3/17: Played second round on this device, again having trouble finding the satellite on the first try. After 6 holes it no longer allowed me to enter scores, hits, fairway hits/misses and some other features. It continued to automatically detect when I started playing another hole. It was quite frustrating that I can't enter my stats or even log out of the scorecard without having to hit the power button to reset my settings. I'll contact Garmin support if they can't fix the issue remotely. I will return the device. Very disappointed. UPDATE 4/12/17: I spoke to Garmin support again on 11/4/17 and the tech says they don't have an ETA for the software update. I asked if Garmin would compensate me for loss of use, they said they wouldn't. They offered to buy me a G8 for an additional $100. I told the tech that I had already paid $250 for the G30 and the G8 is currently selling for less than $300 and was given no explanation as to why I should pay another $50 for a unit that costs much less. To say that I'm incredibly disappointed and frustrated with how Garmin has handled this issue would be an understatement. I've heard mostly positive feedback on Garmin products and support. This question makes me reconsider what I've read before.
