Not 100% Butyl, smells like tar

I've worked with pure butyl as tapes and sealants and know what that looks, feels and smells like. Despite claims of consisting of butyl, Siless smells of roofing/street tar. While the majority of this product may be butyl, it is not 100%. I will avoid adding this to an interior compartment in concern for smell. I also wonder if this will creep under heat. It seems much more soft after heating than 100% butyl.
