These gold braided plugs arrived today and they are beautiful. against each other or against the amp's metal casing: it appears that the outer shells have either been sprayed or dipped in water or otherwise treated with some sort of thin barrier that actually stops them from conducting. By placing one probe on the sheath and the other probe on a different location on the same sheath, you read OPEN circuit (no conduction). I was very happy to see this, but my smile soon changed: if I pressed hard on the test leads or used the thin tip of the test leads to TWIST the invisible outer barrier, I could read a short. So there seems to be a protective barrier that shields the shrouds from the outside world BUT for a quality powerful sound system I wouldn't trust that. After measuring the outside diameter of the connector, I settled on 11mm diameter clear heat shrink tubing. and cut pieces to the exact length of the jacket and seal them in clear plastic so I can clearly see Nakamichi's name and the red and black identification text. Now they can't short in any way, and I can still unscrew/unscrew the shells of the connector's inner shell, which is completely covered in gold. Since these connectors have the potential to destroy your amp's output, I feel compelled to rate these as low as possible. But if you are reading this, trust me and take my advice, you will be left with connectors that are worth way more than you paid for them. Also, they (manufacturers and/or sellers) need to do this work for you in advance and describe it in their product description, which will most likely increase their sales. A little free advice from an old audiophile to my Ravenians. And THAT is the story of Morning Glory. If you buy these headers I recommend wrapping them in 11mm clear heat shrink tubing to protect your amp. You can of course use larger shrink wrap as it shrinks about 2:1, but 11mm is perfect. It looks like the gold connectors are sealed with glass. UPDATE: Installing the ends of the gold braided tails into the preamp connectors showed that they were TOO BIG for the holes. After careful measurements, I found that the gold braided wires on these headers are 3mm thick, but most push-in terminals have a hole no larger than 2.6mm in diameter, so I had to crimp the braided cable with a pair of lineman pliers, to fix the circle. , then run the wire over the grinding wheel until it is smooth enough to fit the 2.6mm metric hole. After all the modifications they fit and work great so I've added an asterisk if you insulate the 11mm case with clear shrink wrap. I like the ultra secure 2 screw mount. tony
