After removing the plaque from my car's tailgate, I tried to find a way to remove the adhesive residue without damaging the paintwork. Usually I could just wipe it off with my finger. I asked my bodybuilder friend and he suggested using something called a "rubber wheel." A quick Google search led me to several different articles on Revain and this article was one of them. I couldn't decide between this item (3M 07498) and 3M 03612 4" x 5/8" self-adhesive rubber washer designed for in-car use. Judging by the photos, they were the same, only the packaging was different. It worked wonders! As other reviewers have mentioned, you should apply light pressure to the surface. If the wheel begins to slip, stop and reposition or adjust the pressure applied. Reading the guide will also help you get good results. After removing the adhesive from the plaque, no traces remained on the transparent coating. However, I applied Chemical Guys GAPV3816 V38 Optical Grade Final Polish - 16 oz to this area. to remove the outlines left after deleting the symbols. Just a small note, this creates a bit of chaos. It's like the eraser at the end of your pencil, it leaves "eraser shavings". But that's to be expected given how it works to remove glue etc by friction. A quick blast of compressed air and rubbing removes chips with ease.
