Save money trying to protect a toaster. I have been running an entry-level home theater system for many years. A $2,000 TV, a $280 receiver, and a set of entry-level 5.1 speakers that cost me $500, including the subwoofer. With this system I used a powerful surge protector and everything was fine. Just look for protection at 3000 joules. If you have mid to high end hardware then this is a MUST HAVE as without it you really won't complete your system. Spending countless hours researching which $4,000 OLED to buy and which $2,000 AV receiver to complement a $6,000 7.1 you've so perfectly chosen makes no sense. It makes no sense. This component protects your system while improving the sound and picture (even if you don't realize it), and it monitors the amplifiers you use and the voltage coming from your home with readings so you can be confident that your devices will last a long time longer. BONUS: This component looks great and looks like high-tech hardware because it is. That was my thinking when putting together a high-end system. I have come to this conclusion based on experience and research. take action.
