Review on 💡 Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3: Ultimate AMD sTRX4/TR4/SP3 CPU Cooling Solution (140mm, Brown) by Chris Burns

Pros: Relatively easy to install. Calm. Good build. Cons: Even with a second 140mm fan installed, it can't stop the 3960x CPU from over-throwing when all cores are fully loaded for more than 2-3 minutes. Contacted Noctua support prior to purchase and specifically asked if this block could keep the 3960x from over-throttling under all core loads. They confirmed that it has been tested and will keep the CPU under its thermal throttle even under long-term stress on all cores. This turned out not to be the case. Temperatures quickly exceeded 90 C when the CPU was heavily loaded. Contacted Noctua support again to determine if the device was defective or had an installation error. This time, Noctua support said temperatures in that range are to be expected. At such high temperatures, the processor slows down. So, according to Noctua support, the U14S is clearly unable to keep the 3960x within its thermal limits under all core loads.
