Years ago I bought a Catalina Bunk Bed from Pottery Barn. I recently decided to put up a bunk bed and realized I had lost the pins provided by Pottery Barn. These are exactly the pins to use, but the PB pins had threads on one end that screwed into the underside of the bunk headboard and footboard. All you have to do is remove the internally threaded portion of the top and bottom plates (secured with 3 screws each) and the resulting hole will fit these dowel pins perfectly. They are not screwed on, but they fit quite snugly, and most bunk beds don't have screw plugs anyway. The weight of the top bunk is enough to connect the beds together.
