If you don't like glasses or are picky about their size I highly recommend buying a pair of nose nippers and learning how to use them. This is a great tool! For this particular pair: the joint is a box joint (one piece fits into the other rather than two pieces that just bolt or rivet together), which I think is quality. Although there was some oil, I would expect steel tools to prevent rust. The barrel gaps were slightly off-center but large enough to be usable without remodeling. I am very satisfied with the purchase of these pliers, especially for the price (much lower than other pliers). Some reviewers describe very cheap hardware; It wasn't my experience. The seller may have used different suppliers. I took a risk and it paid off.
