First of all I would like to remind you that this is a charging station that works and works well. But there are some quirks that some people might call features that would be useful for a person considering purchasing this item. Let's go through the good stuff. You'll want to buy this to charge your pro controllers and your joysticks, and this device will handle it completely. There's a handy charge indicator on the front that tells you exactly which controllers are charged and which aren't. You can charge up to two official Nintendo Pro controllers and up to two sets of joycons that can be mixed or matched. I have a third-party Joy-Con set that charges this charger very reliably. This document is attached to the end of your Nintendo Switch Dock where the two USB ports are located. cosmetically, this seems like a near-perfect match. The two connectors that stick out at the end of this charging station match the two connectors on the end of the Nintendo Switch docking station exactly. This charging dock doesn't have its own power, it only draws power from the USB ports on the Nintendo Switch dock, and only when the Nintendo Switch is actually connected to the dock. So here's the weird stuff. First, if you're the kind of person who takes your Switch with you on the go or in portable mode when your pro controller runs out of power, you might be disappointed to hear that the charging dock isn't charging your pro controller. when your switch is down docked. This isn't a problem for me since I almost always play on my Switch docked. Second, while the USB connectors that stick out at the end of this document match the connectors on the Nintendo Switch dock exactly, they pop out with incredible ease, like it or not. There are several ways to get around this and I'll cover them in a moment. The charging indicator on the end of this docking station is very bright. And I don't mean the usual super bright ones. I mean you're going to have trouble playing video games if this thing is somewhere where you can see super bright lights while looking at the screen. They're so bright it's really distracting. Now let's talk about my workarounds. For the bright lights just mentioned, I made a small valve out of matte black tape that I simply folded over the lights and pulled up again when I wanted to look at the lights to see which controllers were loaded. . For USB ports that keep disconnecting what do they do because it takes a certain amount of force to connect the controller to this dock - not bad you want these things to stay in place when charging - I first used my duct tape to hold the Switch dock and this charging dock together where the USB ports meet, only one strip on each side seemed to do the trick. but the more I use it, the more I realize that duct tape will not be a long-term solution. Since I'm the kind of person who always tries to void a warranty, I opened up the case and drilled some small holes in the sides of the dock so I could attach some zip ties through the dock and then wrap them around the bottom of the switch dock could . Someone could probably do this with velcro cable ties as well, but I've taken that approach for now. It's actually more permanent than I'd like, but my switch stock is actually pinned to my shelf so it's not going anywhere. The solutions won't be for everyone, and so I really think this might not be the best charging station option for some people. But as a hardware guy, I assume this is a great option for those who want a little something unique and aren't afraid to hack it a bit to make it their own. You could use some double-sided tape or command strips to keep the switch dock and this charging dock from sliding off, but then again I'm pretty confident to say that this doesn't seem like a long-term solution to this problem. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase because I had a pretty good idea of what I was going to do with it when I bought it in the first place.
