UPDATE - 1 year later: This backpack has held up phenomenally through Term 3 and Summer School. Aside from a few blemishes, he's still in great shape. (These photos were taken today, after a year of use. No tears. The zip still works. The mesh is still intact. We also bought a matching lunch box. It's still in great condition. I recommend both products. My son loves them only used his backpack for a month so can't comment on durability yet i like the different color fabric which hides dirt/stains son is tall for his age in 1st grade the backpack fits him well zippers seem strong material is durable straps seem really impressed love the extra laptop compartment in the main compartment that holds the bag will be buying this brand again next year
