Review on 🔪 Black Cross-Cut Paper Shredder - Royal 1840MX, Shreds 18 Sheets by Adam Roman

In a nutshell -- I've filled 11 giant green garbage bags with scraps from this machine over the past few days. Based on my experience with other shredders, I initially cared about the machine, but over time I gave up and really put this shredder to the test. It got stuck exactly once (the gauge said overload) and automatically pumped up and cleared. I skipped the nominal 18 leaves MANY times and he picked them up and chewed them without hesitation. The machine runs continuously for at least 40 minutes, which I've checked at least half a dozen times. I use Fellowes oil in the car about every 15 minutes as I saw another poster recommend. I really can't say anything negative about this chopper; I am completely satisfied with the performance and glad that I bought this device. ****UPDATE January 29, 2014 PERFORMANCE: The shredder continues to perform flawlessly as I keep throwing more paper through it than I ever expected. NOISE: My cat doesn't run away when I use it (like it does when I turn on the vacuum). I've found that a carpeted room is a little quieter than hardwood (echoes, I'm sure). DURABILITY: I've lost count of how many bags I've shredded - that's over 30 large green bags. We relocated it to the UHaul body and it didn't break or miss a single step. **** UPDATE 11/21/2015 I was trying to figure out the limitations of this paper shredder but couldn't. Still works great and I've lost count of how many boxes of paper have gone through - over 100 boxes of carbon paper. Very happy with this purchase! In August 2013, he and the ScanSnap iX500 went paperless. MAGIC! Everything is digital, searchable and organized. HEAVEN! The rule here is: if it doesn't have to be the original (which very few things do), it's scanned and destroyed. I don't know how I lived without these two tools. **** UPDATE 8/3/2017 We have encountered an issue with the shredder - the auto shut off feature has stopped working. So I have to turn it on, grind it, and then turn it off. After all I've been through with this thing for 4 years, I can't complain. I would buy it again but I didn't have to! **** UPDATE 06/05/2019 This shredder still works and doesn't miss a chance! Hundreds - yes, hundreds - boxes of paper went through this thing, and one day, six years ago, it got stuck. ****UPDATE 07/19/2021Shredder still works! I noticed that it worked harder with fewer blades at the same time, so I started using lube again and it seemed to make a big difference. Offers in one go. For me, the feature means I can skip junk without stopping to open, rip off an address, etc. In 10 years of working with clients, I've learned that when there are no extra steps, compliance is high! I read it. it wasn't meant to be oiled, so I stopped using it about four years ago.
