2 quick presses on the lens to turn on the light 1 short press when the light is on to cycle through modes 1 long press to turn off the light I have to didn't read the instructions fully or forgot but after not using the light for months it took me a while to realize that it takes two quick presses to turn the light on. The battery life seems good to me. The light is bright, but it's more for warning oncoming traffic than actual lighting to see ahead while driving. I bought it as a small and light addition to my road bike for dawn or dusk rides or in very busy traffic to warn motorists. In that respect it was perfect for my needs. If it were completely dark it would have enough light to drive on it but I would really go for a brighter and bigger light if you really need to drive at night. I have 31.8 FSA handlebars on my road bike and the headlight band barely fits. Difficult to hit, but the light doesn't slide at all. I've ridden it in wet weather and it continues to work so I think the moisture resistance is pretty good.
