Ideal for replacing a ceiling fan. It is both bright and dimmable, making it perfect for any room. Uniform quality of light that emphasizes the color of fabrics and carpets. The kit contains parts of the lamp, including a longer threaded rod and a few extra nuts. The base is made of thick metal and the acrylic cover is very durable. Impact-resistant design, perfect for fans. I used all the extra parts for a snug and secure fit. But there is plenty of room to work with the device. Wires connect the lamp stem to the fan housing. Wires include a ground wire and grommet to prevent chafing. It took me 15 minutes to convert an old halogen fan to an equally bright LED! lamps. Big, 8 inches, perfect for my fans. Your fan may be smaller. This probably won't work with school-style fixtures - wider fixtures are required. Be prepared to cut all wires and remove the traction switch. You won't need any of this. Make sure your dimmer is rated for LED or it won't work properly. Update 2020: I installed the largest (8 inch) version of these lightbars (3000K warm color) and it has been working great for about 5 years now. The first one blew today and I just ordered a replacement. There are several other options now, but none of them are as flashy or well designed in my opinion. This is a very well designed and solid structure that can be installed anywhere, I even hung one in the attic that has been running non-stop for the past 5 years.
