Review on 🚗 Nilight 50043R: Heavy-Duty Bosch Style 12V 30/40 Amp 5-Pin Relay Switch 10 Pack for Automotive, Truck, Marine & Boat - 2 Years Warranty by Lagant Wardrick

I am an electrical engineer and have had more than a few relays in my 40+ years in the business. I usually analyze the dead ones I replace to see what caused the failure, time permitting. Because of this, I have a pretty good idea of what to look for in a quality (or not-so-good) relay. I took one of these apart (needed a base to assemble the test equipment) and found that they were well made relays. Here's what I found (photos attached) - real copper coil windings on a plastic insulated spool, properly sized contacts, fully sealed with lots of glue on each pin and around the perimeter of the cover. The braid that connects the moving contact is thick fine gauge copper, made from REAL copper (no cheap "CCA" or copper clad aluminum - avoid that stuff at all costs - it's junk) and welded uncrimped on both ends. Frame is heavy gauge galvanized steel with phosphor bronze leaf spring (no current carrier for long life). They seem to last a long time in harsh environments (like in a boat or under a car). Apply some silicone dielectric grease to the pins when installing and they will last for years. The lugs are tin plated brass, not cheap steel which is tough and prone to rusting. I should note that this part number does not include a noise suppression diode or resistor and should not be used where the old relay was or in a new installation without adding this protection at the outlet. The noise surges generated by the coil when an unprotected relay is de-energized can disrupt or even damage sensitive electronics in nearby circuits. If you're new to this sort of thing, a quick web search will explain what noise reduction is. Hope this helps, time eludes a lot of reviews but I love doing good reviews when I make up my mind. In this case I found the product worthy and what I found in the "cheap automatic relay" was really a surprise. All in all the Nilight 50043R 10 pack is a good quality relay, a great deal in its price range and with a 2 year lifespan. Warranty, I would suggest stocking this relay for anyone doing boat, car or truck repairs and installs.
