Review on Equus 6068 3 3 Tachometer Black by Jere Mosley

works with any engine

This is the only Equus I've found that has an inductive sensor that pinches the spark plug wire. All little ones say they have one, but they don't have one! Equus informed me over the phone that their website and even the instructions that came with the total station are general, not specific to the item they are selling and they do not intend to make their website accurate. Some vehicles have a speedometer output, many don't. If you don't have a distributor or that tachometer connector, you'll need to buy an inductive tachometer. Don't believe the ads, look inside the packaging before you open it. Other than that, this one works great in my Dodge Caravan which has a DIS (Distributorless Ignition System) with 3 coils permanently connected to 6 connectors. The mode switch on the back of this tachometer can be used to set it to any number of cylinders, even as unusual as 3 or 5 cylinders up to 12 cylinders. The lighting is even, but a VERY white LED (not amber like their less expensive incandescent bulbs). It dims correctly but is brighter than most dashboards and there's no matching to other gauges. I could try adding a little resistor if it keeps bothering me. The red lever does NOT light up, only the white numbers light up, which makes it a bit hard to see at night. It would get another star if it had a panel mount option (as he wrongly claims) - instead the threads on the speedo body are clamped with a rubber ring and yoke-like metal strap that screws into the mounting base you see in the picture.
