Review on Gizmo Dorks Filament Printers 2 85Mm Additive Manufacturing Products in 3D Printing Supplies by Jamie Rogers

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent nylon thread, but.

I was pleased to find that this yarn was available in 200g quantities as it gave me the opportunity to try it with minimal investment. I used 2.85mm filament on a Lulzbot Mini with temperatures up to 240°C, fan at 30% and infill at 40%. Also, the combing mode has been set to "Inner Fill" to reduce tension. I applied a small amount of glue stick to the work table (temperature set to 65°C). The first launch was a disaster. Although the filament arrived in a sealed pouch with a sachet of silica gel, the filament was moist enough to sound like a fried onion when it passed through the hot end as the moisture boiled out of the polymer. (Nylon will happily absorb 10% of its own weight in water from the atmosphere in a day or two). I then dried the filament in a domestic electric oven at 170F (77C) for 8 hours and then quickly transferred it to a dry box. placed in a cloth bag with a tight lid containing 1 pound of very dry silica gel and allowed to cool overnight. The next day I tried to print the same part with great results. No popping or hissing when threading through the hot end. After use I put the nylon back in the dry box for later use. I will buy this thread again if I need more.
