My cheap plastic pressure regulator in my drip irrigation system kept making a high pitched whistling noise. It reverberated throughout my house as the sound traveled through the plumbing. The problem was that the pressure in the cheap plastic regulator was too high. It worked fine but it was impossible to remove the sound. It was a spare drop. It was even almost the same length as the original, making it very easy to install using existing plumbing. The system is now completely silent. If you plan to use it in a drip irrigation system, make sure you turn the knob down before installing or the factory installed 40 pounds will blow your system to pieces. Simply return the knob to its original position. counterclockwise until it loosens easily. It's behind the ground, almost zero pressure. Once it's installed in the system and water is flowing, increase the pressure to about 25 pounds.
