I originally bought this to decorate the outside and just paint each drawer a different color but I decided to do that instead. If I get tired of it I can always paint it over (I have to sand it first as I used polyurethane over the gnats to seal it). I painted over first, then poly outside. The drawers were varnished, sheathed with Mojo and then coated with polyurethane. I have no trouble opening and closing the drawers at all like some of the other reviewers, but maybe that's because I just stained and applied a thin coat of each. Since I bought it for decoration and not for use, I don't actually use it yet. The drawers are very small but they are perfect for small things and small items. So I think that's what I'm going to use it for. I have hangers that I will use to hang it on the wall in my workshop. I want the drawer pulls to either be screwed on or not hot glued. I have various items that I can use, but I'm afraid if I try to remove them I will damage the box and won't be able to recover it. Overall I'm happy with it.
