. So I bought two sets of these and on one set the key that came with it didn't work in the latch. It worked well with a doorknob, but not at all with a latch. Again, this is the key that came in the box. Apparently they forgot to properly lock the deadbolt to make it work with the key on. It is not possible to replace it with the smart key function because you need a working key for this function. However, with the help of a youtube video, I was able to completely disassemble the deadbolt's locking mechanism and reinstall the pins, allowing me to relock the lock using the smart key function. It can be tricky, but if you have some experience with things, it's very doable with the basic tools. For me it was much quicker and easier than sending it back for a replacement. Also, this set is awesome! The handles feel very solid and are a good weight. The finish feels great. I bought a similar set from HD which was their own brand and everything about it was just cheap (I think they were class 3 after all). The added protection and quality make them worth considering. Incredible opportunity to change the key to match other existing locks.
