Our 2 year old daughter drinks far more water through a straw than an open cup so this bottle keeps her well hydrated. It has a larger capacity than most children's cups, which is good, and it has withstood all sorts of drops and bumps. This is our second bottle and my only complaint remains that the bite valve is the weakest/most likely to fail but my little one will explode if we change it to a different color. I wish they had a second bite valve in the same cool color because the refills are all blue. As far as cleaning goes, we just fill it with water and use it every day so cleaning is easy if you have a bottle cleaning kit with small straw brushes and a nipple/valve and a small parts dryer.
