Review on 🏌️ Gray/Black SkyCaddie SG4 Golf GPS System by Michael Daniels

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Really great GPS but not perfect.

I've been using the Skycaddy SG4 for 7 months now and it has really helped my game. I mainly play single field at La Quinta and the markers for sprinkler shots are hard to find and often missing. So when I got the SG4 it showed the distance to the front, middle and back of the green and that's all I need. I also found a special holder on ebay that fits the unit and attaches to my golf cart's cup holder so it's highly visible and stable. I had no real problems with the block. Sometimes it takes a while and I don't have the patience to wait for the "Done" indicator. Retrieving positions typically takes 10 minutes. It didn't collect or hold any satellites last week, so I couldn't use it. I saw how to reset the GPS on the Sky Golf website and it seemed to work after the reset as I got 4 bars and a good distance readout. The device feels solid and the screen is clearly visible, much larger than the SG2. I like the ability to mark the beginning and end of a journey. Battery life seems good and I get two rounds on a single charge, although it's good to charge it between rounds just in case. In general, the distance shown on the Sky Caddy will match the course markings. The only thing I would complain about is the charger/USB adapter. To do this, you need to screw a small male connector into the mating socket on the back. I suspect it was chosen for its water resistance, but it is very fiddly to align and tighten. I'm always afraid of twisting the thread and ruining the connector. Overall I think this is a great product with a few areas that could be improved.

Pros
  • High test scores for support and durability
Cons
  • Long delivery time
