Functional, not expensive, my wife likes the way it looks. it is not a heavy, safe unit. I recently bought a house with a vendor style basement. A very old door to the basement needed replacing and there have been several replacements in the house. although they were in one piece, they were also very old and the metal parts built into them were falling apart. This new product fits right in the place of the old one. My only complaint is that the screw holes don't quite line up with the old ones. I used long wood screws instead of the supplied screws to cut deeper into the fresh wood on both the door and frame. Even when the screw holes match, longer, heavy-duty wood screws provide better support for metal striking components. the tree is the weekly part. If the screw is too small, a good kick with a strong foot will rip it all out at once.
