About the cost of a gasket - buy or rent

If you don't care about automatic four wheel drive and are willing to jam the hubs every time then I think you can use one of these homemade PVC installations Do you see on YouTube. For the price of a fill, however, you get a tool that keeps you from ruining your fills as you fill them. I have a 2002 F350 Powerstroke. You have to hit this gasket hard to get it fully seated on the axle. If you don't fully install it, you won't be able to reinstall the axle into the diff. right and your dust seal (where the axle shaft enters the axle tube) will sit in and out of the truck, or you won't be able to reattach that clamp after you put the hub on the truck. This tool guarantees correct installation without damaging the vacuum seal. It worked like a charm for me - I'm glad I bought it. Just make sure you smash that gasket nice and firmly on the axle shaft, I used a 3lb hammer and knocked the crap out. I don't know how I would put everything back together without leaving gaps if I didn't have this tool. worth your money.
