I bought this splitter/amplifier a few years ago to support the TV signal in my house. I didn't have a diagnostic tool to check if it got better or not. I also bought it before I switched to a digital receiver (analog Comcast TV back then) and left it in place. Then I upgraded to FIOS 2 years ago. The tech who installed the FIOS said I don't need it because the fiber goes to my house, so the coax signal must be very strong as it's being generated by a device that's on the outside wall of my house. own DVR on my computer and noticed a few channels that were TERRIBLE. They were very intermittent and intolerable on my computer (with the HDHomeRun Prime tuner) - the FIOS hardware for some reason had no problems with these channels. This tuner (HD HomeRun Prime) has built in diagnostics and I could see that certain channels I was having trouble with didn't have a strong signal. So I reinstalled this device in my FIOS setup and it solved my problem. The signal went from 75-80% to 95%. The picture has become clearer and more flawless. It even allows my internet signal and on-demand talkback to go upstream (FIOS only as far as I've tested). So it works, but it's only worth it if you can identify your needs.
