Too thick for my height of 5ft 2", but as I'm outside the recommended 5ft 4" to 6ft 3" that's understandable. My husband is about 5ft 9in so he did the testing for me. He was surprised at how much he liked the rectangular shape and not the contoured one he usually uses, but we both agreed that the pillow cube was a little firmer than we prefer. It's not a concrete block, but we both like the more cloud-like one , less dense memory foam pillows. As for the case, it's worth the extra $30 compared to a standard dice pad of the same size and shape. Honestly I don't think so. It's thick and feels like polyester and none of us want to sleep on it without covering it with an extra pillowcase. Which pretty much negates the cooling feeling. Also, I use a silk duvet cover, otherwise I wake up with curly hair. However, if you sleep particularly hot, it's hard to appreciate. God knows I paid a lot of money for a fancy mattress fridge and I think it's worth every penny.
