Made my decision based on online feedback and my familiarity with the brand. I thought it was a flash disk with a bootable operating system but now I'm not sure. My 16GB Transcend J780 flash drive is 5 years old, and it can only write at 33Mb/s while reading at 170Mb/s. Therefore, I suggest this one to people who want the greatest option. I don't know if the manufacturing process for flash drives changed, or if you need a USB3.1 port to get the advertised transfer rates. Keep in mind, though, that the J790 will outperform the J780 in terms of the write speed of random tiny blocks, at 1Mb/s as opposed to 0.2Mb/s. My speed is not shown, but the USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface is, and the packaging image does not match the product within. PS. A later test demonstrated a typical Windows 7 write speed of 35Mb/s. It appears that the cost of a flash drive is still relevant, with higher-priced options being of higher quality. I snagged this deal since I was in need of a cheap bootable USB flash drive and wanted to use it to transfer videos.
