I've been using these straps on my gear for years rather than tearing everything apart to get at the old strap. (fan shrouds, fan blade guards, guards, etc.) and bend down in tight quarters, and it takes an hour or two, with a bunch of wrenches, sockets, and clutter (grease and oil) to get your trusty knife or side dams. Remove the old belt, loosen the alternator bolt (a key), wrap the new connecting belt around the pulleys, mark with a marker, twist and unlock, remove the excess. Then turn the lock together, tighten the alternator, done! It took me 4-5 minutes to change the belt on my Ingersoll Rand compressor at the job site. Also keep unwanted snippets in your toolbox in case the link breaks along the way (probably not), pull out the old one, plug in the new one and you'll be back to work in minutes. Kevin K
