Worthy - Indoor Training and Customer Service Need Serious Help!

I bought this through a plethora of HRM/GPS solutions mainly because it combines a music player with HRM and GPS. I'm 43 and need to lose over 20 pounds and do a variety of exercises but mainly: outdoor running, outdoor biking, spinning (indoor) and strength training. I've used it about 6 times since I got it last week. I'll try to update this when I have a little more time. As far as outdoor stuff goes, MotoActv was just as promised, but I still need some time to get used to the music player. Also, for some reason, longer runs and rides are randomly broken into "laps" (typically 10 minutes if I'm running, and completely random intervals if I'm driving). On one of my rides (two 7.5 mile loops) he only missed about 1.5 miles, just over half. It's a bit annoying, but it could be a setting I haven't figured out yet, or just operator error. A BIG downside in terms of functionality - if you're doing an indoor workout and your bike won't connect, you won't be able to start. training record. I ended up using the "walk" setting to record my heart rate during a workout, but it's useless if you upload it to a website. Recording a 45-minute spin session as a 0.3-mile walk that burned 47 calories. Harramf. Why it isn't connected to the Livestrong filming cycle at NYSC I don't know. Possibly the sensors for recording the cadence etc. are not wireless. I think if it can't find the sensor you can still record it as a ride. However, I can't figure out why there isn't a general "cardio" setting in case I want to do something other than the five options (jump rope, group cardio, fitness DVD, walk real stairs, etc.). . (Run, Walk, Bike, Ellipse, Stairs). I'm sure there is some correlation between heart rate/weight/calories for performance evaluation. When it comes to help/customer service, there are two major downsides. First, the chat function of the learning portal is annoying. Although I'm logged into the learning portal, a very different registration is required to start a "chat" with a live representative. After registering and confirming via email I waited 6 minutes (a very good countdown is provided) and was then told there were no vacant agents - yes it was during business hours. Very unpleasant. Second, I tried to join the forums to get answers to my questions, but this also requires another registration. You then have to confirm the registration. They then ask questions about your phone (including serial number), tablet, storage media, and a bunch of other things unrelated to my issue. If you don't provide information, you can't use the forums - it's just not worth it. Overall, it's a useful tool, but a bit too much hassle and frustration for the $299 entry fee, in my humble opinion. Functionality needs improvement to benefit from additional features. Any GPS enabled HRM can do the same thing as this device as long as you already have an iPod. The good news is that they are constantly updating the software, so hopefully the device will get better over time (and maybe I'll get a little smarter too).

  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Good but not great
