Review on Lantronix XPS1002CP 01 S XPrintServer Cloud Print by Cris Drew

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great problem solving. Now I have 2.

Bought one of these 2 years ago and wasn't impressed. I switched to using the Google Cloud Print service downloaded to a Windows workstation. But recently my customers started having problems with their cloud printing service. It just didn't work anymore. Calls to Google were unsuccessful. I pulled this out of the server cabinet and updated the firmware. It worked like magic. Before starting it, I called Lantronix support to find out how they discovered the printers and to ask other questions about my infrastructure. To my surprise, Lantronix support said it wouldn't work with Canon network printers. That was bad news because I wanted to connect 5 new Canon network printers and make them available to 60 Chrome devices. Despite what their support said, and having tried everything else, I plugged it in and set it up after updating the firmware. To my surprise, it recognized all my printers and correctly advertised them on my Printers@yyy.com account. After two days of trying to get Google Cloud Print working with the service, this field fixed the problem. I was yesterday and it still worked. . I was so glad this thing got me working that I bought another one for another customer whose seal broke yesterday. I have high hopes. This thing seems to be worth every penny and more. I'll get back to you in a month and let you know how things are going. I like Chrome devices; but sometimes printing with Chrome devices is a tough nut to crack. The print just stops for no apparent reason. Printing is still indispensable in business life. I don't worry too much about the quality as most of the print jobs are regular documents. But the test pages I took yesterday were clean and crisp.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
