I have a new Dell laptop with no ethernet port and was thinking of getting one of these USB to ethernet gadgets but saw it for just a few bucks more and went for it because it I like the idea of getting USB 3 ports as I have a laptop that only has a regular USB 3 port. Note that Anker makes a very similar aluminum version (apparently designed to complement a Mac) and I thought about it but then realized the cable was pinched at the end of the unit and seemed a little flimsy and it was a problem with the Stopper. I then connected it to my Windows 10 laptop and it installed almost immediately without any action on my part and the connection was faster than I thought. It "seems good" and I've had no trouble connecting a portable external hard drive even when the laptop was on battery power, although I wouldn't try that for too long.
