I bought these 42 watt Kawell bulbs to replace the 27 watt Kawell bulbs I installed over a year ago. The old headlights survived the winter in upstate New York, but showed signs of the elements. I installed these as an auxiliary high beam headlight on a 2010 MINI Cooper with an aftermarket high beam relay harness. The light is white and turns on immediately. and the lamps work cool. As others have pointed out, these are not "spot" lamps. The light pattern is very wide and diffuse; ideal for spotting roadside deer, but lacks the expensive optics needed to focus an LED light source. Very happy with the results and reliability. Excellent value for money and quality.
