If you are unsure about sizing and feel like you are in the middle, I would recommend going up. First, I bought a small, solid, dark blue - I really liked the length, very comfortable, and then I ordered a small in this model, but it turned out to be too tight. I could wear it but needed a little more space. I'm glad I returned the small in the medium size because it fits great. I'm not sure if there is an overall size difference between the solid color line and the prints, but when I buy a print I get the medium. The length seems about the same as the small and medium I have, but the larger size offers a more comfortable fit.
