Review on ๐Ÿงน HEPA Filter Bag for Hoover Vacuum by Gary Haymon

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The bags themselves have an unpleasant odor

I bought a new Hoover WindTunnel in December and ordered 4 packs of 2 Original Hoover Type Y HEPA filter bags from it . One of the main reasons I chose the vacuum model was that it uses filters and HEPA bags. I soon noticed that every time I used a new vacuum cleaner it left a bad smell in the room. I figured the smell was because the vacuum was new and that it would go away after a little use. But now it's February and the vacuum cleaner still stinks. Today I decided to change the bag because I thought maybe the bad smell was because the bag was full. When I took it out, it was less than half full. Imagine my surprise when I opened a packet of new bags and found that the new bags themselves gave off a bad smell! The smell somehow reminds me of a liquid key or the smell of new tires or an auto parts store. It may not bother some people, but I'm sensitive to smells and it bothers me. All original Hoover bags. I'll try hanging the remaining bags in the sun and air them out a bit to see if that dissipates the smell. However, next time I will look for a different type of HEPA bag. By the way, the first product image for this item matches what I received (I ordered them from "T&T Enterprises LLC"). However, the customer image provided by user "David" showing a translucent plastic bag does not match what I received. Different suppliers may provide different bag versions. If I could find a link to sell plastic I might try them next time. Some of the reviews for Hoover Inc/tti Floor Care 4010801Y Hepa filtration bag 2pk indicate a chemical smell so I suspect these reviewers had the same look. I made bags.

Pros
  • High filtration microfiber with 3 layers of Filtrete HEPA filter material
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other bags
