I have tried different types of gates to keep my dogs in a certain place and this one was the winner! It's a high traffic area with my extended family and I going in and out several times a day. These strong gates can withstand all of us, and after you get used to how to open them, you'll be golden! We put another one outside on the patio at the top of the stairs to give freedom to the dogs in the yard below. It comes with an alternate part that you attach where it latches so it doesn't open up stairs but only one way, which I really liked. The only issue I could report is that I have to tighten the screws on the locking mechanism more times than I'd like, but it gets used so many times a day that they're bound to loosen a bit!
