Review on 💻 HP 3005PR USB 3.0 Port Replicator - USB Docking: Simplify Connectivity and Expand Your Workspace by Mark Powell

I have two houses and travel a lot for work. I bought an HP Probook for my consulting business in January and thought it would be nice if I could save time setting up my laptop at home (any) by eliminating the need to connect a keyboard, monitor, mouse or webcam make . , backup drive and headphones when I move my notebook. Surprises me more than a small USB 3 connection to a port replicator that easily supports all my needs. units work fine. I have several complaints. 1) When I move from one house to another I sometimes have to reinstall the drivers installed on the port replicator to make it work. This is really more annoying than anything else as it rarely happens. 2) When restarting (I have an encrypted laptop and a special pre-boot menu) I have to open the laptop to see the display. Note that the keyboard and mouse work fine through the replicator, but video requires HP software drivers to be installed on Windows that are not already running. 3) Every few weeks I get a bunch of updates from Microsoft that seem to delete my port replicator video. a driver connection that requires you to reinstall the drivers from the replicator itself. Note. I've seen at least one complaint about the display port driver on the port replicator. The port replicator only supports the DVI connector and the display. It doesn't support SVGA, which many of us still have with older monitors. Especially if we have several computers that we want to operate from the same keyboard and monitor. I bought an "unsupported" active Displayport to SVGA adapter for about $20 that worked great for me. Note. I'm not a gamer, but if I were a gamer I wouldn't buy a probook or port replicator. In general I am almost satisfied with them.
