Silver is too soft to work as a split ring

The only problem with them is that once you open them up to attach them to an object or amulet, silver (depending on the shape!) is just too soft to bend. So unless you are SUPER careful you will end up with something that is no longer symmetrical and round. That's not really the seller's fault: if you think about it, the fact that they use real silver should give you an indication that the ring is more likely to deform during use.
