After complex foot surgery that included triple ankle arthrodesis, I am having a painful 3 month recovery which will be longer than I had hoped. I spent hours reading ankle brace reviews and tried 3 different braces before hoping to find one that wouldn't break the bank. This is the only brace that doesn't increase the ankle pain, so while it's pricey for my budget, it's worth every penny. To be clear, it doesn't take away all the pain - pain is part of the healing process - but it does give me the stability I need to gradually increase the load without making the pain worse like previous braces have was. Seams that put extra pressure on the sensitive areas of the foot. The molded air arch has plastic supports that dig into the foot. This Tri-Lok brace offers good support and avoids these pitfalls. It's complicated, but once you get the hang of it, it's not difficult. I love that it comes in 3 pieces with a sock like base with velcro straps and two separate additional velcro straps, one for arch support and the other to reinforce the part of the base that prevents ankle roll off. This allows me to customize it to my needs, with all three pieces, just two, or (hopefully) just the base piece with no additional straps. It is very well made and the velcro is exceptionally strong. That's a plus for support, but it makes removal more difficult. This is normal - it's worth fighting for support. Bottom line, I'm incredibly grateful to finally have an ankle brace that supports my healing without causing additional pain.
