Good Sanding Block in Hand Tools

These are some of my favorite sanding blocks; I've been using these for decades. My biggest issue is that it's a bit difficult to load the paper tightly with minimal loosening. Also, the work surface is nominally 5 inches long (my blocks are actually 4 7/8 inches) and the strip of sandpaper is 9 inches long, so only 55.55% paper is used. I try to use the leftover pieces of sandpaper. (under the valves) for manual grinding. I would like someone to redesign this suction cup and make it 6" long to make better use of the 9" strips of sandpaper.
