We have been using this system for many years. This faucet is mainly used for drinking, cooking, coffee, iced tea, camel tea and dog water refilling. Filters make the water cleaner and taste 100% better. Perhaps some owners are using filters past the recommended date and/or gallon usage? We replace our filters every time we change the filter in our fridge. It really depends on how much water your family uses. We have had enough of it from 3 to 6 months. (Damn, you better go to a water and ice storage facility with 5 gallon jugs.) I run the water for about 5 minutes after changing the filters to remove air and char. I take samples in a clear glass until the water is crystal clear. I then test the water and get excellent results for pH, chlorine, acidity, etc. The original faucet was plastic and didn't close well on our sink. Get rid of it ASAP and upgrade to stainless steel for a better faucet and mounting system. Be sure to insert the filters in the correct order when replacing them. You get what you put into this system. It's not for everyone, but we get a great return on our investment of time, money, and muscle. We live in a warm, dry climate, so we probably use our filtered water more than others.
