This is a decent case for the money. As other reviewers point out, the laptop will NOT open more than 90 degrees with the underside of the lid in place. It is disappointing and surprising that the lid manufacturer has NEVER attempted to open a laptop with the bottom lid in place. I don't blame the lid entirely, as the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Gen 7 has a unique hinge layout that allows the laptop to open 180 degrees. The good news is that a slight cut on the bottom cover allows the laptop to open 180 degrees again. As shown in the photos, carefully trimming about 0.25 inches off the bottom edge of the lid closest to the hinges solved the problem. I'm deducting a star from my rating because of this manufacturing defect. If you like messing around with items you just bought, this is appropriate coverage. I used a utility knife and tin snips to trim the edge, although other options will work as well. 150 grit sandpaper quickly smoothed the cut edge. The lid is also smooth, which is also annoying.
