I had several of these and gave some away. I LOVE how well they work when brand new so when mine broke I bought new ones assuming I just got a lemon. THEY ARE ALL LEMONS. My observation with multiple units is that the average lifespan is 3 to 6 uses. Sometimes a new probe ($20 each) fixes the problem, sometimes nothing helps (including pressing the reset button). Look at reviews of other products on different websites; they all complain about how quickly the device fails. You may also notice that several different brands with the same screen look the same, indicating that it is the same device sold under different brand names. Given all the bad reviews about these things, the companies that sell these things need to consider the ethics of selling something like this. an expensive one that only works a few times. Unfortunately, from what I've seen, other brands of remote thermometers fail after just a few uses. It's a real burden because when they work they do great work and I think that's why I'm so annoyed.
