Review on Smart watch SUUNTO Spartan Trainer wrist HR, ocean by Janis Libeks ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It's not quite what I expected, overall it's ok.

In general terms, I am satisfied with the clock, I was going to buy a belt for a bicycle anyway. But you should immediately understand that the optical heart rate sensor is nothing more than a marketing ploy. I don’t know how many more generations of sports watches have to change each other so that they can show the pulse with at least a small error, and not completely crazy. It hasn't gotten to swimming yet, so I can't say how they behave in other sports besides running. In September last year, one of the strap mounts cracked. I sent it to the service - they replaced the case under warranty. And today I discovered that both fasteners burst and the strap fell off completely from above. Is this some kind of weak point with them, or do I tighten the strap so much that my hand does not dry out, and the watch breaks?

Pros
  • - Size. Relative to my previous Ambit 2S, they are noticeably smaller. I have small wrists, so it’s more convenient for me to walk with them every day than with the same embits. - Color screen. This is both a plus and a minus. For the colors were not next to the pictures that stores usually post. The colors are very pale. But the very fact that they exist is still a plus.
Cons
  • - Heart rate monitor. To say that the optical heart rate monitor is lying is to compliment him. He doesn't just lie by 10-15%, as I might expect. He draws data from the astral plane. I went up the hill with a length of 150 meters, I decided to measure the pulse. 110, the watch confidently told me. After 5 minutes, I was walking on a flat road and they already told me that my heart rate was 170. In short sprints, they sometimes say that my heart rate reaches 210, despite the fact that on the chest strap I have never seen a heart rate above 195. When I first bought them, during training I checked the accuracy of the data on the Ambit2S from the belt and on the Spartans from the optical sensor. For 75-80 minutes of training, the Spartans showed 10 strokes higher. There were times when Ambit showed a pulse of 120, and Spartans - 180. The same parsley was today, when after a warm-up he stood, and the pulse showed - 155. While jogging, I measured on the carotid artery - 140, by the clock - 185. In short, With this heart rate monitor, it is impossible to determine the pulse, even the pulse zones. He can easily lie for 40-50 punches. If you can understand from the schedule from the chest strap how many intervals a person ran, it is clearly visible there when the pulse rises, when it falls, on the optics - a solid mess. It is worth noting that this is not the problem of this watch. I heard similar reviews from the owners of Garmin Fenix 5. - For watches that in the 2022 officially cost from 20k, they look like a children's Chinese watch for 300. True, I compared them with Ambit3S, the material is the same.
